“As a child who processed the world uniquely, therapy sessions were often stressful for Ryan. Being in a new environment where he had difficulty processing new sensory inputs, often led to anxiety and disengagement from his sessions.
Sensory issues are common in children who experience developmental disabilities, which is why being able to create a Snoezelen environment that works with a child's unique sensory needs can be such a valuable resource for effective therapy.
As a child who loved bright lights, Ryan's therapy sessions would have benefited from resources such as a bubble tube, fibre optic spray, and projector, which are just a few of the amazing resources included with Snoezelen carts.
For this reason, I am excited to be part of an initiative that will provide Snoezelen resources to the Ron Joyce Children's Health Centre, knowing there are so many more children like Ryan who will benefit from it.” Arlene (Ryan's mom)
